The documentary retraces and illustrates the extraordinary musical production of Nino Rota through testimonies from colleagues and friends and quotes from films that are rightfully part of the history of cinema, from La dolce vita to Amarcord, up to The Godfather and The Godfather: Part II, for which he won an Oscar. But Rota's story is not only his career in cinema, but also his intense production of operas and symphonies. Mario Monicelli made this documentary as his personal tribute to the great Maestro, enriching the narration with stories never before heard and personal memories.
