Bruno Morassutti. Theme and Variations

Hide Synopsis
It is not easy to paint a portrait of Bruno Morassutti, a cultured and sensitive architect, but also a reserved and private one. Born in Padua, he graduated from Giuseppe Samonà’s IUAV in Venice and was one of the very few Italians to attend Frank Lloyd Wright’s school at Taliesin. He made his way through the twentieth century with a design method at once rigorous and brilliant. The film reconstructs his human and professional legacy through the accounts of friends and collaborators, valuable material from the studio’s archive and footage of his most evocative buildings. The story unfolds from Milan to Madrid and up to the Alps, following the thread that ties together a sixty-year career and projects ranging from the domestic scale to major infrastructure, all united by a lucid vision founded on structural clarity and aesthetic freedom.
