The research on color, shape, space, and light has Franco Fontana as one of its leading exponents. The human figure is practically absent in his work. Instead, the predominant themes are chromatic and geometric. The choice of subjects, whether rural, industrial, or urban landscapes, is always secondary in his works to the two main protagonists of his photographs: color and geometry. It is not the representation of reality that interests him, but seeing it "differently, with an oblique eye." His works have been presented in over 400 exhibitions, published in prestigious magazines, displayed in major museums around the world, and featured in at least 60 books.
