Una giornata nell'Archivio Piero Bottoni

Massimo D’Anolfi, Martina Parenti

Italy, 2022, 35'

Synopsis

In a room of the Cineteca di Milano, Giancarlo Consonni and Graziella Tonon observe gods old films that have just been digitized: they tell of the architect's life and projects, urbanist, painter, photographer Piero Bottoni.
The film follows the couple's research among the materials preserved both in the film archive and above all at the archive.
They tell of a multifaceted and socially committed artist, who dedicated his life and work with the primary intent of instilling dreams and enchantment in reality, making use of the contribution of all the arts.
Through the multiplicity of materials at our disposal - drawings, films, photos, investigations, projects, rumors - the film shows the realization of Piero Bottoni's most ambitious project: the construction of a mountain in Milan, Monte Stella, born from the rubble of the Second World War.
Because as Bottoni himself writes: “If Monte Stella was born, it grew, it was covered with trees, paths and streets, it's because it was a dream and a poem and because I believed in it. Since dreams and poetry move the world, despite appearances."
