Franco Fontana

Simona Confalonieri

Italy, 2006, 24'

Synopsis

Research on color, form, space, and light has in Franco Fontana one of its greatest representatives. The human figure is practically absent in his work; instead, chromatic and geometric themes predominate. The choice of subjects, whether rural, industrial or urban landscapes, is always secondary in his work compared to the two protagonists of his photographs: color and geometry. It is not the representation of reality that interests him, but seeing it "in a different way, with an oblique eye."

His works have been presented in more than 400 exhibitions, published in the most prestigious magazines, are exhibited in the world's greatest museums and are featured in at least 60 books.
